Dear Khader Adnan & family,Although thousands of miles of land and sea separate us, you are not far from my thoughts. You reflect the resilience and determination of your people, the Palestinians, who have faced and continue to face grave injustices and an unjust occupation. I really wish there was something else I can do besides offer prayers, asking God to keep you steadfast, to liberate your land and to give your people the peace and justice they deserve. As you go on with your hunger strike, the thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of people you have inspired with your struggle for dignity and justice, will forever remember you. You have touched all of our hearts, brought tears to our eyes and have strengthen our resolve to continue your fight for justice- for the end to an illegal Israeli occupation.Although there are uncaring leaders in this world who may not give a single thought to your struggle, there are millions of people you have inspired, and will continue to inspire, that will continue your struggle. It is unfair to your wife and your daughters that their husband and father has to go through this terrible experience. I can only imagine the helplessness they must feel, that the international community has not spoken on your behalf. Although I shouldn't have to, but please accept my sincere appologies for the silence, for the lack of outrage. I honestly cannot come up with one reason for why the world is silent. Please accept my appologies, and the appologies of the sincere individuals who stand in solidarity with your family.Khader, you have incredible determination, will and patience, and I depart with these words from the Glorious Qur'an:And be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are patient. (8:46)
Only those who are patient shall receive their reward in full, without reckoning. (39:10)
In solidarity,Roda Mohamed
