Mai from Egypt

Mixed feelings of hope, despair, anger, and solidarity swirl in the pit of my heart. I cry sometimes, but not over your possible loss... no, they are tears of wonder at the courage and determination a single human being can show in the face of so much hatred and injustice. The only thing I can say now is that God is Great.

Please live. We need more, not less, people like you in the world. But if you die, please know that not only will you live on in your children's veins, but you will live on in millions of us. We have been touched and our eyes are open. There is no turning back. We may get caught up in daily life, but when challenges arise, we will remember you and you shall renew our strength.

We are all Khader. We are all Randa.
